The presented article discusses shaping of such social competences of an individual and the environment that can constitute the potential for counteracting difficult life events. The development of conceptions and models concerning the development of social involvement gives more and more data indicating the significance of environmental potential for shaping of social competences in their resistance dimension that would be a specific capital for an individual and a community. The strategies of shaping and using this potential may be treated as an important indicator of a person’s and community’s development.
