Theory-practice tension which can be observed in contemporary psychology becomes a problem for work and organizational psychologists as well. For this applied discipline setting against or separating researchers and practitioners leads to dangers of irrelevant theory and invalid practice. The article deals with reasons and consequences of dichotomization of professional role of work and organizational psychologist. Then general suggestions for corrective actions and the model of professional education are presented.
