The article presents relations between work and organization psychology and ethicsof postmodernity. Work and organization psychology appeared in period of modernity as a reaction to lack of endorsement of work ethic among workers. The aim of this field was to increase workers’ efficiency. In period of modernity work ethic appeared together with wealth ‘ethic’. In period of postmodernity work ethic was replaced by aesthetics of consumption, effectiveness ‘ethic’ and leisure time ethic. Effectiveness is understood here as making profits by organizations. In modernity epoch effectiveness meant higher productivity (efficient work). In postmodernity epoch effectiveness means production, sale and thinking about clients’ needs. Postmodern organizations are flexible and react to market changes. Thus, postmodern work is a means of effectiveness and consumption. Nowadays, work should be a source of income spent on consumption as well as it should give you pleasure and excitement. Work is often a form of consumption. Work and organization psychology is connected with effectiveness ‘ethic’. In modern period application of this psychology increased efficiency of workers. At present this field is often applied as a factor increasing organization and workers’ flexibility. It is connected with certain threats and challenges such as treating this field as a means of earning profits.
